A stronger Ontario

begins with her.

The B. Carmen Charles Foundation supports women, girls and families across Ontario through literacy, the arts, and community.

Our Story

The B. Carmen Charles Foundation was founded with a vision of empowering women and strengthening families and communities across Ontario.

Our work focuses on supporting women and families facing barriers or difficult circumstances, while creating opportunities through literacy and education, arts, culture and heritage, youth development, and community engagement.

The Foundation serves as a bridge to essential resources, programs, and opportunities, helping women, girls, families, and communities build stronger, more inclusive, and resilient futures.

Our vision is to create a welcoming Ontario where every woman and family has the opportunity to thrive, participate, and contribute to their community.

We work in literacy and education , arts, culture and heritage , youth development , community engagement across Ontario.

Our Mission

The Foundation is committed to improving the well-being of women first and foremost, as well as families and communities across Ontario, by promoting inclusion, education, culture, literacy, the arts, sports, youth development, and civic engagement.

We value Ontario’s cultural, linguistic, and generational diversity and strive to build more inclusive, accessible, resilient, and equitable communities, where women and their families can thrive, participate fully, and contribute to society.
